Make a Matcha Latte

The best part of waking up, is Matcha in your cup.

Sorry Folgers, but its true. I'd have a Matcha over you any day.

Its not you, its me. Not a big coffee fan, it makes me jittery, awkward and I feel a little like I'm on edge for hours after I drink you. My anxiety peaks, adrenals suffer and pretty sure you make my heart palpitate. We're through.

Having said that, I do struggle to fully break up with you. You still get me with your earthy aromas, rich flavours and energy boosting promises.

Sometimes when I urge coffee drinkers to kick the habit, they ask for an alternative.

Herbal tea? Green tea? They look at me like, "uh yeah right" and laugh as if we were in that joke together. I have learned that the step from coffee to tea might be too steep. A big stretch for a coffee addict.

Well listen, caffein-aters, Ive got an option for you. Matcha! It is made from green tea and so it provides an energy lift but it offers a full bodied flavour for your palate as opposed to a regular green tea. Also making matcha latte's are great for coffee folk who like the whole process of making your coffee in the morning.

Matcha is also waaaahay better for you than coffee:

  • Packed with antioxidants

  • Boosts metabolism

  • Detoxifies

  • Fights viruses and bacteria

  • Provides vitamin C, selenium, zinc and magnesium

Ok I gotta wrap this up. Do me a favour and just give this a try. Its a fun process, tastes damn good, provides an energy boost and you can still enjoy your Saturday morning.

MATCHA LATTE FOR DOS PERSONAS

What you need.

  • 1-2 tbsp Matcha

  • 2 cups milk (or milk alternative - we used almond coconut milk but I am excited to try it with homemade oat milk)

  • 1/2 tsp vanilla

  • Spices (cinnamon, nutmeg, play around with ones you like)

  • 1 tsp honey (or more)

Heat up the milk and stir in matcha. Stir until it is just about boiling. Add spices and honey. THEN put it all in a blender add the vanilla and blend for about 10 seconds for it to get all mixy and frothy. Then pour it into 2 cups add a dash of cinnamon and enjoy.

Yummy!
