The Simplicity of Water

Simplicity is a beautiful thing.

I feel lighter just looking at the word. There is space, flow and a sense of ease. It often seems that simplicity has been squeezed out of our western culture. This world is fast, loud, efficient and based on bigger is better. A recipe for complexity.

Our primal need for simplicity is evident in the effort of making our lives easier through ways such as fast food and technology. But I have to say that a rotary dial phone is much less complex than an all-in-one Smart Phone with 32 apps, 20 various rings and 45 other functions that you didn’t even know you needed on hand before you got it.

And so what I am getting at is, If we are looking for more simplicity in life, it is up to us to bring it back in.

Pure water.

Let's not over look the importance of simply drinking water. Up to 60% of the human body is water, the brain is composed of 70% water and the lungs are nearly 90% water. So what happens when we don't nourish ourselves with water? 60% of our whole selves cant function optimally. And so we experience weight gain, headaches, poor skin, digestive disorders, low energy, inflammation, etc, etc, etc.

There are a lot of liquids on the market that make you think you are drinking water. But there should only be 1 ingredient in your water – water. No sugar added, no coffee added, no carbonation added. Back to the basics.

Water even looks more simple than a can of coke, lets say. It is so modest, humble and vulnerable, the way it just quietly rests in your glass. So exposed and transparent. Such beautiful characteristics, I want to be it! Then look at a can of coke – its loud, obnoxious, insecure the way it needs to prove itself with a label, and in such a hard shell that needs to be cracked open.

What is it trying to hide?

A simple life means making simple choices. This is a great place to start.

Simple. Pure. Water. Drink more of it.
